A New Form of Customer Relations:
• Increased dependency on adequacy of communications infrastructure.

This factor involves critical changes to the four Supplier Market Relationship business functions of the Resource Framework, in their dealings with communications infrastructure providers:
  • Resource Opportunity Identification must revise its approach to communications infrastructure provider relationship opportunities to include a more comprehensive analysis of the overall market for such things as technology trends, provider financial trends, regulatory trends, etc.

  • Resource Opportunity Development must now compare the company's product lifespan and future plans against the expected supplier market's rate of change in technology, supplier business lifespan, merger timing scenarios, etc.

  • Resource Purchase Order must keep very close track of individual communications infrastructure provider's pricing, performance and availability, tracking this information to highlight trends and timelines.

  • Resource Support Order must keep very close track of individual provider's responsiveness to support problems, and ability to restore service.
It also requires changes to the associated subsystem data object:
  • Supplier Market Data Object must be expanded to include more comprehensive information about communications infrastructure market trends and individual provider performance. This will involve a much closer monitoring of market trends in technolog, mergers and deregulation. Individual providers must also be monitored for product life expectancy, financial health, and future plans.
