Detailed workflow actions (from any type of process) can be linked to their supporting information technology. This diagram shows the basic workflow action sequence on the left side in yellow, with a corresponding "actor-message-actor" structure on the right. In this version of the model, all workflow actions are initiated by an employee, with information technology shown in a supporting role.

Each object on the right side is capable of "taking action" in response to an incoming message (denoted by an incoming arrow). Such an action-taking object may be an employee, a PC application, server, mainframe, etc.
