Frameworks are central to the integrated model. They provide the visual aid that makes it possible to picture all three view structures within a single architecture.

Two kinds of framework are used, one for the product/customer side of the business, and another for the resource/supplier side.

The framework structures enable the integrated model to be used as an enterprise roadmap. They allow navigation from top-level framework components down into structural details, and on to relevant business information. They also allow bottom-up orientation by providing a "You Are Here" location in the framework structure.
