Resulting Action Sequence
.
Summary
.
Living system governance control is intended to initiate (or stop) action that results in fulfillment of its functional requirements. This second of three parts shows how the action that results from control initiation starts at the biomolecular level and flows upward through the three-level living system hierarchy. All living system action begins with biomolecular changes that are aggregated together to collectively produce higher and higher-level functional results.
.
Resulting Action Sequence Chart
.
This chart portrays the general sequence of actions, from molecule to superorganism. It is intended to be read from bottom-to-top to show how each level of action builds upward from the preceding levels.
.
Note that the higher-level controller is grouped with actions by the lower-level entity to indicate its constraining influence. For example, Superorganism "Implementor" is grouped with Organization "emerger" and "aggregator."
.
In the Control Unit column, "emerger" indicates that the aggregation of lower-level actions produces a modified physical aggregate object. These changes to the aggregate object's internal structure cause the new temporary property of "action" to emerge, resulting in a new stable state for the object. For example, action by its molecular components changes the internal structure of an organelle aggregate object such that it modifies the organelle's emergent properties. This change in organelle emergent properties is defined as action at the organelle level. (See Theory of Aggregate Objects for details.)
.
This chart shows the sequence of action events, working from bottom to top.
